Take a Scenic Gondola Ride up Mammoth Mountain to explore all the fun at 11,053 ft. The Lakes Basin is a family-favorite destination for hiking, biking, fishing and more. Just a few miles up Lake Mary Road lies endless exploration. The first destination is Twin Lakes, nestled at 8,500 feet with the historic Tamarack Lodge located sitting on its shore offering lodging, fine dining, camping and fishing. Continue up the road on one of the paved bike paths and you’ll find Lake Mary, Lake Mamie and the mysterious Horseshoe Lake.
The majesty of Reds Meadow, Devils Postpile National Monument, Rainbow Falls and other beautiful sites along the middle fork of the San Joaquin River valley lie just over the shoulder of Mammoth Mountain – a perfect area for hiking, fishing and more. All visitors must ride the Reds Meadow Shuttle for access to this region – tickets available for purchase at the Adventure Center.
Mammoth is the perfect basecamp for visitors planning a day trip to Yosemite, as the eastern entrance to the park is an easy 30-minute drive from the town of Mammoth Lakes, with an additional 1.5-hour drive into Yosemite Valley. Driving over Tioga Road (HWY 120) you'll see many photo-worthy sites along the way, including Tuolumne Meadows, Tenaya Lake and Olmstead Point during the beautiful forested drive.
